Evangelia A. Athanasiadou

I was born and raised in Thessaloniki, but I have studied and worked in various cities, with my most recent station being Chania.

This factor is reflected in the form and content of my work as I consider it necessary to have a reference to and connection with the social-cultural context of the place where an artwork is created and addressed.

My work consists of two pillars. In the first one, my artistic/experimental work, starting from my undergraduate studies, I deal with issues of perceiving and exploring epistemological, ontological, phenomenal, and semantic levels of sensory experience.

In the second one, which has emerged as a research interest in recent years during my postgraduate studies, I approach issues related to the sociological dimension of art, specifically applied-clinical action in the field.

Since 2018, I have worked in and coordinated participatory art projects with mixed groups of people as well as groups that operate with a solidarity/cooperative methodology and principles based on social justice.
